How We Grow
Creating great places through strong community design.
Once development is planned for the right places, it has to be designed carefully. Three key concepts, TOD, good design and mixing uses, are essential for HOW we create great places. As an example of how not to grow, take Tysons Corner in Fairfax. There, restaurants, stores and offices sprung up helter-skelter, without a plan for connecting to each other with easily walkable streets. The result is that a potentially vital neighborhood is hard to navigate and clogged with traffic jams for most of the day. Below are more details about the elements of TOD, design and mixing uses that make for places where we would all want to spend time.
