Grassroots Campaign Internship
The Coalition for Smarter Growth is looking for a grassroots intern who wants to gain hands-on experience in community organizing, work with exciting professional online outreach tools, and help develop outreach strategies.
This internship will focus on strengthening and providing support for DC campaigns and occasionally regional efforts in Loudoun and Fairfax. As the Washington region continues to grow, it is important that local communities speak up for the right kind of growth. We need an intern who can organize to community members through the internet and traditional communications to help build support for vibrant neighborhoods throughout our region.
The intern will work closely with Coalition for Smarter Growth staff and campaign staff on daily campaign management.
Responsibilities:
- Communication with citizens
- Community outreach activities
- Managing campaign material distribution
- Developing Power Point presentations
Qualifications:
Applicants should have an interest in learning how to mobilize citizens to support smart growth principles and engage citizens in the planning process. Experience in grassroots organizing or campaign work is desirable. Prior knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Dreamweaver is ideal but not required.
Commitment:
Hours and the duration of the internship are flexible. However, with the great emphasis on outreach efforts, some evening hours (2-3 evenings a week) would be required, as well as occasional weekend hours.
