Common Guiding Principles for Development

Below are the common principles developed by the 300 participants in the Reality Check exercise to guide where they would accomodate 2 million new residents and 1.6 million new jobs in our region by 2030.

  • Preserve and protect open spaces
  • Focus development near transit stations
  • Maintain jobs-housing balance
  • Concentrate development along transportation corridors
  • Concentrate development near existing towns
  • Create mixed use nodes
  • Develop east side of region
  • Offer housing choices
