Transportation
Transportation affects us all. We all need to go places, and we usually want to get there in the most efficient way possible. Transportation efficiency can be thought of in terms of both time and money. Therefore, good transportation projects should not drain taxpayers' pockets or leave us sitting in traffic with no other choices. To solve the transportation
issues in our region, we seek to promote positive solutions and good
projects, while stopping the bad projects -- particularly proposed outer
beltways, which will accelerate suburban sprawl and renew the decline
of our Nation's Capital and inner suburbs. Good transportation projects
should help to move people, not just cars. Good land use decisions should
encourage efficient transportation patterns, such as transit-oriented
development, pedestrian and bike friendly design, and mixed use development.
Providing people with transportation choices, including a variety of
transit systems such as bus, rail, and metro, is also crucial. Such
beneficial elements of transportation are all a part of a regional and
local smart growth vision for communities. More on Transportation: Related Issues: More Information: | ||||
