Pedestrian Safety in the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area
County & City Comparisons from Mean Streets 2004
For the first time in Mean Streets 2004, the Coalition for Smarter Growth and the Surface Transportation Policy Project (STPP) provide a pedestrian danger index for each major city and county in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area. Outer suburban counties, Spotsylvania County, VA & Charles County, MD top the list as the most dangerous places for walkers, while the District of Columbia and Arlington County are the safest places for pedestrians.
