Hidden
in Plain Sight: Capturing the Demand for Housing Near Transit
The study finds that across the U.S. more than 14.6 million households are likely
to want to rent and buy housing near transit by 2025, double the number that live
in these neighborhoods today. Meeting this demand would require building 2,100
residential units near each of the 3,971 stations included in the study.

Center for Transit Oriented Development
This study shows that only
a few of the region's governments are providing significant and stable
local funding for affordable housing. It demonstrates that other jurisdictions
could follow their example as housing values rise, affordability decreases,
and property tax revenues climb.

LUTRAQ - Making the Land Use, Transportation & Air Quality Connection
A groundbreaking study and
approach that constructed an alternative land
use pattern for the future of Washington County, Oregon. It focused on
the transportation and air quality impacts of an approach with moderate
density, pedestrian designed neighborhoods along a regional transit network.
The scenario and modeling were done by 1000 Friends of Oregon with the
help of Cambridge Systematics, Calthorpe Associates, Parsons Brinckerhoff,
Quade & Douglas, ECONorthwest, several advisory committees, and the
citizens’ group Sensible Transportation Options for People.

Generated Traffic and Induced Travel: Implications for Transportation Planning
Transportation improvements can encourage more and longer trips,
changes in travel patterns, and land use changes. This is called "generated
traffic" or "induced travel." The effects of generated traffic
are often ignored in investment analysis, resulting in overstated benefits and
understated costs. This report defines various types of generated traffic and
discusses their impacts. It describes ways to predict generated traffic and estimate
net costs for transport planning and investment analysis. Victoria
