SUMMARY:Single-Stair Buildings + Walkable Neighborhoods
DESCRIPTION:Join us\, along with the American Institute of Architects | DC (AIA|DC) and the Congress for the New Urbanism Mid-Atlantic (CNU DC)\, to explore how smarter housing design can help advance more walkable\, inclusive\, and resilient neighborhoods across our region. \n\n\n\nAs we grapple with housing affordability\, zoning reform\, and the urgent need for more diverse housing options\, single-stair multifamily housing has emerged as a key design and policy opportunity. If we combine these kinds of innovations with walkable neighborhoods and great placemaking\, we can create more sustainable\, inclusive\, and in-demand neighborhoods. Join us for this special event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSingle-Stair Multifamily Buildings + Walkable NeighborhoodsTuesday\, June 2\, 20266:00 pm – 8:00 pmDistrict Architecture Center421 7th St NW\, Washington\, DC 20004 \n\n\n\n\nRSVP\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are bringing together leaders from advocacy\, architecture\, and urban design to examine how this innovative housing typology can support more human-scaled\, transit-supportive communities while expanding housing choice. \n\n\n\nFeatured speakers: \n\n\n\n\nStewart Schwartz\, Executive Director\, Coalition for Smarter Growth\, who will frame the broader regional imperative for walkability\, sustainable growth\, and stronger collaboration with the design community;\n\n\n\nCharles Warren\, AIA\, Teass\Warren Architects\, who will discuss DC’s recently approved One Front Door initiative alongside his firm’s work advancing single-stair multifamily housing; and\n\n\n\nThomas Long\, Torti Gallas + Partners\, representing CNU Mid-Atlantic\, who will present two award-winning housing concepts from the 2025 Baltimore CNU Single-Stair Design Competition.\n\n\n\n\nWhether you are an architect\, planner\, developer\, policymaker\, housing advocate\, or simply interested in the future of better housing and better neighborhoods for our region\, please join us! \n\n\n\nThis event is co-hosted by: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you downtown on June 2.

SUMMARY:Montgomery for All Eastern Silver Spring Bike Tour
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to learn more about the Eastern Silver Spring Communities Plan (ESSCP) and have the opportunity to provide feedback directly to planners in person? Would you like to enjoy a group bike ride with a stop at a local restaurant for pupusas at the end? \n\n\n\nJoin CSG and Montgomery for All for a group bike ride through the Eastern Silver Spring Communities Plan area! On Wednesday\, June 3rd at 5:30pm\, we’ll lead a family-paced bike ride through some of the neighborhoods in the plan. \n\n\n\n\nRSVP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn this bike ride we will visit two of the official placemaking locations. These are pocket parks that previously did not have any infrastructure or programming\, but as part of the planning process\, the planning department wishes to elevate these locations as community gathering spots. At the Hastings Gathering Spot\, there will be planners meeting with the community to gather feedback about the Eastern Silver Spring Communities Plan. \n\n\n\nEven if you don’t ride a bike\, meet up with us at one of the placemaking locations or for dinner at Pupuseria Doña Azucena at the end! \n\n\n\nPhoto credit: Montgomery Planning
