ACTION ALERT! Tell the Council: support new homes on corridors and say no to more barriers

Your action needed TODAY!

On Tuesday, Sept. 16th at 1:30PM, the Montgomery County Council is holding a hearing on SRA 25-02. This legislation supports the implementation of ZTA 25-02, a key piece of the More Housing N.O.W. package allowing more types of homes on county corridors.

However, opponents are using this hearing to push for even more restrictions on the types of homes that can be built under ZTA 25-02.

They are asking the Council to add an additional layer of review to approvals for new homes, and to limit lot consolidation—which would reduce flexibility and make multi-family homes infeasible to build on some lots covered by the ZTA.

Lot consolidation can provide needed flexibility in site layout to preserve mature trees, meet stormwater requirements, and provide for more homes than may be possible if each lot were developed separately.

Please take a moment to email the Council today to urge them not to add additional obstacles to building the new homes our county needs in smart, sustainable locations. You may also sign up to testify virtually or in-person at tomorrow’s hearing, but please note that hearing sign-up closes at 2PM today.

Thanks for all you do,
