On October 24, 2026 we explored the future Central Ave. Connector Trail (CACT) on the east end of the alignment. CACT is the planned trail parallel to Central Avenue (MD 214) from the DC border to Downtown Largo, connecting four Blue/Silver Line Metrorail Stations, residences, parks, schools, and businesses. After years of planning, the trail is finally taking shape with the first segment, from Old Central Ave./Central Ave. to Shady Glen Drive, starting construction in 2027.

During our Oct. 24 tour, we walked around the Summerfield Park trails between the Morgan Boulevard Metro station and the Capital Beltway. Prince George’s Department of Parks & Recreation were our guides, along with the Planning Department, to discuss future plans for enhancing the park trails network and connecting to the planned Central Avenue Connector Trail in this area.

Several bridge crossings for the Beltway to get from Morgan Boulevard Metro to Downtown Largo are under consideration. While accommodation of people walking and biking on Medical Center Drive to the north and Central Avenue to the south are welcome (and needed), we support a direct trail bridge connection across the Capital Beltway.

Thank you again to the outstanding team from PG Parks, and the Planning Department, who guided us on our walk.
