In this year’s Maryland legislative session, CSG has helped get some promising housing and transportation bills through the Maryland House and Senate – and we’re still tracking others that may need a push. 

In 2022, CSG, Montgomery for All, Action in Montgomery, and other organizations teamed up to rally for co-locating affordable housing with a redeveloped Chevy Chase Library—and won. Now, in 2026, we need to speak up once again.

Dance Loft on 14, approved three years ago, is an exciting Ward 4 mixed-use development that includes affordable housing, a performing arts center, retail space, and net-zero energy design. But it encountered delays due to the city’s unprecedented crisis in affordable housing funding.

Without this funding, we will see fare hikes and service cuts during a time when frequent, reliable, and affordable transit is more important than ever.

Maryland has a housing shortage, and is losing residents to other states where housing is more affordable. The following bills can help change this trajectory by ensuring our communities can build homes that truly reflect the diversity of needs of Maryland residents.
