Robert “Bob” Youngentob, a founding partner at Bethesda developer EYA LLC, died Saturday after a battle with cancer, according to an online obituary. He was 64.

Youngentob, the “Y” in the company’s name, was executive chairman and helped shape some of Greater Washington’s best known communities, including Reservoir District and Riggs Park Place in D.C. and countless other neighborhoods in suburban Washington.

The Coalition for Smarter Growth led by Stewart Schwartz honored Youngentob with its Livable Communities Leadership Award in 2018.

“Bob was a great individual who cared deeply about our community and doing good in the world,” Schwartz said. “He was committed to creating inclusive, mixed-income communities.”
