A transportation trifecta is moving through the MD General Assembly: more climate-friendly projects, more options than driving, and more homes and businesses near transit. Send an email to make sure these three bills get passed!
CSG is excited about these bills:
- Transportation & Climate Alignment Act (HB 437 / SB 59) – This bill has momentum after passing the MD House the last two sessions! The “TCA” would require accountability and transparency about projects that increase pollution and commuter costs. New highway expansions that would increase driving and carbon emissions must provide clean and more affordable transportation options within impacted communities.
- Transportation Investment Priorities Act (HB 230 / SB 62) – The Maryland Department of Transportation seeks to create a more data-driven, transparent and cost-effective way to fund projects while ensuring they address state goals, like equitable job access and multimodal choices.
- Maryland Transit & Housing Opportunity Act (HB 894 /SB 389) – This bill by the Moore administration removes barriers to transit-oriented development around Metro, Purple Line, MARC Penn Line, and Baltimore area light rail and subway stations.
Stay tuned for an update from CSG next week on Metro funding and what you can do to support it in the MD General Assembly.
Your state legislators need to hear from you on these 3 bills!
