Alexandria wants your feedback on the next phase of its Housing Master Plan (HMP) update! We commend the city for promoting goals and strategies essential to fostering an inclusive Alexandria and would like to encourage you to show your support for the plan’s Revised Draft Housing 2040 Principles and Goals by the October 19 deadline.

Housing 2040 will determine the principles, goals, and tools that will be used to address Alexandria’s housing shortage for the next 15 years. Increasing housing choices at a variety of price points is vital, and we applaud the city for including this as a key housing action and goal. We are also in support of prioritizing investments in committed affordable housing as well as green building and resilience practices.  On November 17, the city will hold its next Housing 2040 meeting focusing on the plan’s Landlord Tenant and Affordable Housing Preservation recommendations and strategies. It is critical that Alexandria maintains and expands its commitment to affordability, walkability, and livability as it re-examines its housing policies. Let’s support the good work the city is doing and continue to stay engaged as further updates take shape.
